Why Atletico Madrid Must Sell Alvarez –Agüero

Date:

Former Argentina striker Sergio Agüero has advised Atlético Madrid to sell Julián Álvarez, stating that keeping an unhappy player is detrimental to everyone.

Following Álvarez’s public admission that he wants to leave the club, Agüero believes offloading the forward is the best solution for the player and the club’s locker room atmosphere.

He backed Barcelona as an ideal landing spot, calling Álvarez a spectacular fit for their playing style.

“I can’t hide either. I try to be an honest person. I spoke with the people at the club I needed to speak with. The best thing for everyone is a transfer, and I want to fulfil my dream.”

“He says he met with the club and decided a transfer is the best option. It’s very difficult. When a player isn’t happy, each club takes their own stance and the player ends up losing out,” he told Jijantes FC.

“If he’s not comfortable, the best thing is to find a solution and sell him. You’re not going to have a player in a bad mood all year round.

“With that clause, the decision lies with the club. The club will decide whether or not to sell you, and he, to be honest, ended up saying as much, and that’s for the best,” he explained.

Atlético Madrid is highly reluctant to let their star asset go easily and initially pointed to his enormous release clause to deter suitors.

However, reports suggest that Álvarez is hurt and upset, as he claims the club previously promised to let him go if Barcelona submitted an offer in the €90M–€100M range.
