World Cup semifinals: ‘We’ll give our souls against you’ – Argentina’s Cristian Romero warns England

Date:

Argentina defender, Cristian Romero, has shared his thoughts ahead of the semi-final match against England.
The Albiceleste are set to face England at the Atlanta Stadium on Wednesday, July 15.

Lionel Messi’s team successfully defeated Switzerland in the quarter-finals, winning 3-1 after extra time. The reigning world champions took an early advantage with Alexis Mac Allister scoring in the 10th minute.

Switzerland equalized in the 67th minute with a goal from Dan Ndoye, but Breel Embolo received a controversial red card shortly thereafter. Lionel Scaloni’s team netted two late goals in the second half of extra time to secure their spot in the semi-finals.

Now, Argentina will challenge Thomas Tuchel’s England in the semi-finals, which could serve as a significant test of their capabilities.

Cristian Romero has pledged that the players will give their utmost effort against the Three Lions.

He said, as quoted by All About Argentina on X, “We will give our souls against England. It’s football, sometimes you win or lose but we will leave our lives on the pitch to reach the final again.”

Lionel Scaloni’s squad has not been particularly impressive thus far in the 2026 tournament.

They faced considerable challenges against teams like Cape Verde, Egypt, and Switzerland in the knockout rounds, and England will present an even greater test for them.
