Date:

Esther Okoronkwo has explained why the Super Falcons suffered a shock 3-2 loss to WAFCON debutants Malawi, in their opening Group C fixture on Tuesday.

Despite going into the contest as clear favourites, the Super Falcons could not find answers the rampaging sisters Temwa and Tabitha Chawinga who got their side’s three goals.

While Temwa bagged a brace, Tabitha got one goal, while Rasheedat Ajibade and substitute Uchenna Kanu got the Super Falcons goals.

The defeat leaves the Super Falcons with a mountain to climb as they must now beat Zambia in their second group fixture to stand a chance of progressing into the quarterfinals.

On the penalty call after she was brought down inside the box, she said:“I don’t know what the referee saw but I think it should have been looked at but it is what it is I didn’t get it, soni won’t talk about it or complain about it.”
