Liverpool secured their first Premier League win of the 2026/27 season with a 2-0 victory away at newly promoted Ipswich Town at Portman Road on Friday.
Swedish striker Alexander Isak scored both goals in a rapid early brace (in the 6th and 9th minutes), with both assisted by Cody Gakpo.
This gave new head coach Andoni Iraola his first league win after the Reds opened the campaign with back-to-back 2-2 draws.
The first goal came in the sixth minute after Milos Kerkez won possession near halfway and found Gakpo, who played Isak through; the former Newcastle United striker took a touch and fired past goalkeeper Kjell Scherpen at the near post.
Then just three minutes later Isak got his second goal to make it 2-0. Gakpo delivered another excellent through ball to Isak who twisted past defender Jacob Greaves and finished left-footed inside the near post.

High-profile summer signing from Paris Saint-Germain Bradley Barcola, came on around the 64th minute as a substitute (replacing Victor Muñoz in some reports).
The France international showed the Reds supporters what to expect as he showed flashes of pace and skill in the minutes he played.
For Liverpool, the win against Ipswich provides relief, confidence, and attacking momentum heading into midweek Champions League action against Atlético Madrid) and the next Premier League fixture against Fulham both at Anfield.
