Former Political Adviser to President Goodluck Jonathan and All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain, Professor Rufa’i Ahmed Alkali, has commended the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, on his first anniversary in office, describing him as a valuable asset to the ruling party.

In a congratulatory message marking Yilwatda‘s one year in office, Alkali praised the APC chairman for providing purposeful and steady leadership since assuming office on July 25, 2025.

According to him, Yilwatda took over the leadership of the party at a critical period in Nigeria’s political history, when expectations were high, and the challenges confronting the party were enormous.

He said the APC Chairman had justified the confidence reposed in him by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and members of the party through hard work, courage, wisdom, patience and unwavering commitment to the growth of the APC.

Alkali noted that within one year, Yilwatda had demonstrated that effective leadership is anchored on sound judgment, fairness, integrity and the ability to inspire confidence among party members and stakeholders.

He particularly applauded the chairman’s inclusive approach to party administration, which he said had strengthened unity within the APC and encouraged constructive engagement among party leaders across the country.

The former Presidential Adviser also highlighted the successful conduct of the APC primary elections as one of the defining moments of Yilwatda’s first year in office. He said the exercise required wisdom, impartiality and political dexterity, qualities he noted the APC chairman displayed in guiding the party through the sensitive process.

According to Alkali, Yilwatda’s commitment to dialogue, consultation and reconciliation among aggrieved party members after the primaries helped the APC emerge stronger, more united and better positioned ahead of the 2027 general elections.

He further described Yilwatda as an accomplished academic, distinguished public servant and humble leader whose accessibility and willingness to listen had earned him widespread respect within and outside the party.
