Police arrest robbery suspect, recover stolen car, others in Gombe

The Gombe State Police Command has arrested a suspected armed robber, detained two alleged housebreakers with 39 master keys, and recovered a stolen vehicle in separate operations across the state.

The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Buhari Abdullahi, disclosed this on Wednesday while briefing journalists on the command’s recent activities.

Abdullahi said one Micah Nuhu was arrested over an alleged robbery attack on a woman identified as Mama Kingsley Joseph.

According to him, the suspect allegedly attacked the woman with a pestle and stole her purse, which was later recovered by the police.

He said the victim was taken to Cottage Hospital, Bambam, for medical attention, while the case had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation.

“The State Criminal Investigation Department is investigating the case, while efforts are ongoing to arrest the fleeing accomplice identified as Mubarak,” Abdullahi said.

In another operation, the command arrested two men, Nasiru Aminu, 40, and Jamiu Muhammad, 33, at a suspected criminal hideout in the Tumfure area of Akko Local Government Area.

The suspects were allegedly found with 39 master keys and a screwdriver believed to be tools used for breaking into houses.

“The suspects are in custody and investigation is ongoing to determine their involvement in other criminal activities,” the police spokesman stated.

Meanwhile, the command also recovered a Toyota Yaris allegedly stolen after its owner, Sani Ahmed, was attacked by suspected criminals.

Abdullahi said the assailants allegedly stabbed Ahmed and pushed him out of the vehicle near Tumu-Kashere Junction before escaping.

“The victim was evacuated to the Specialist Hospital for treatment, while the abandoned vehicle was recovered near the Army Barracks and secured at the police station. The State Criminal Investigation Department has commenced investigation into the incident,” he said.

The police command assured residents that it remained committed to tackling crime and protecting lives and property, while urging members of the public to continue providing useful information to support security operations.

Earlier, officers of the Delta State Police Command arrested eight suspects over alleged armed robbery, cultism and illegal firearms possession in separate intelligence-led operations across the state.

The officers also recovered four locally made firearms, four live cartridges, one expended cartridge and a dagger knife.https://punchng.com/police-arrest-eight-over-robbery-cultism-gunrunning-in-delta/
